There are no new songs for the next couple of weeks, but this being the week before Christmas, I wanted to share a couple of things with you. The first is a video version of one on my all-time favorite Christmas songs done by my newest favorite performers – the Piano Guys. The song is familiar to you – the video and music is amazing. Merry Christmas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugV6QGcafEE

The next link is a short read – thought it was interesting and something I’ve never noticed before and I’ve watched “A Charlie Brown Christmas” every year for as long as I can remember. The title of the article is called “Just Drop the Blanket: The Moment You Never Noticed in “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. http://www.crosswalk.com/special-coverage/christmas-and-advent/just-drop-the-blanket-the-moment-you-never-noticed-in-a-charlie-brown-christmas.html

Come prepared to sing your little hearts out for this week’s service!
There are a two newish songs this week. The first being CCS 336 “Who is My Mother, Who is My Brother”. The video can be found here – https://youtu.be/hq_n_sx02Kg.

The last but not least may be familiar to some of you. It is based on an old French Carol. The title is “Good Christian Friends, Rejoice”. This video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HR7ZdtWQAfE – is not exactly what is in our hymnal, but the tune and most of the words are the same so it’s a good video to listen to for practice.

Adult Sunday School Class Invites You

Please join us for our Adult Sunday School classes which are held at the same time as children’s classes; 9:30 am on Sundays.

Our topic is “Sharing in Community of Christ: Exploring Identity, Mission, Message, and Beliefs”. If you would like a copy they are available from Carol McCans.

This week (Nov. 15) we discussed our Enduring Principles (pages 12-14).

Our Enduring Principles define the essence, heart, and soul of our faith community. They describe the personality of our church as expressed throughout the world.

Grace and Generosity
Sacredness of Creation
Continuing Revelation
Worth of All Persons
All Are Called
Responsible Choices
Pursuit of Peace (Shalom)
Unity in Diversity
Blessings of Community

The discussion was rich and lively as we each had the opportunity to share how particular Enduring Principles spoke to us.

Next week (Nov. 22) we will jump to We Are One, We Are Many (pages 27-29).
We are Community of Christ and we are walking the path together. We sing “joy” in thousands of congregations. We say “hope” in scores of languages. We proclaim peace in almost 60 nations. We are one and we are many. We are diverse, yet we are a community, for we belong to Christ.

There are no new hymns in the immediate future for practice, but just so you don’t forget to check – here’s a video I thought you might enjoy. In honor of all service men and women, past and present, Thank you for your service –be it peace time, war time, home or abroad – without your faithful and courageous service, we would not have the freedom to worship, love, and live the way we do today. Thank you!
