Are you going to SPEC and IYF? We need to know! We need a rough estimate of how many youth plans on attending these events this summer. IYF will be July 19-20 in Independence, Missouri, on July 18 as the travel date. SPEC will be July 21-28 in Lamoni, Iowa. Both are for youth currently in grades 9-12. For more information on IYF/Spectacular and to learn about the amazing opportunity this will be for our youth, please visit https://spec-cofchrist.org/about/. The cost will be approximately $450 to cover the travel to and from Kansas City. The other costs are being covered by the mission center and fundraising efforts. If you plan on attending these events, you will need to participate in at least some of the fundraising efforts. 2 upcoming fundraisers are Jan. 28, Mesa Labyrinth Project and Feb. 19, Winter Reunion IYF/SPEC Lunch Fundraiser (Details can be found on AZMC website under ACTIVITIES tab. Registration forms can be found under the YOUTH FORMS tab.). Please notify Barb Bear by May 1, 2018, if you/your child is planning on attending IYF/SPEC. Sunday, February 11, 2018, 2:0o PM – Sigma Alpha Iota Alumnae Chapter (Heather’s music group) will present their annual “Silver Tea Benefit Concert”. This is a benefit concert to raise funds for the chapter’s Outreach fund – this year we are giving two $200 scholarships to women college students involved in music. See Heather for other ways the Outreach fund has been used in the past. Several musicians from the valley will be performing (including Heather). Come and enjoy an afternoon of quality entertainment. All donations will be accepted.

Cost is $15 before Feb 1 ($18 after that). THE STORYTELLERS: An Evening of Tales Among Friends. Do you love a good story? If so, we have an exciting evening for you! Join Barb Walden, Larry McGuire, and Steve Smith for a fun night of storytelling at the Phoenix Central congregation on Saturday, February 17 at 7:00 PM. Our storytellers will share the theme “When History Gets Personal.” The Storytellers evening is sponsored by the Phoenix Central Congregation and Community of Christ Historic Sites Foundation in support of summer interns who share the church’s stories at our historic sites. A donation opportunity for the Alma Blair Internship Program will be available for those interested in supporting this unique educational opportunity for young adults. All are invited. No RSVP needed.
