Easter Services
As we continue to find new ways of being together when physical distancing guidelines prevent our gatherings, you’re invited to join us for “Living Hope,” an online Easter worship experience.
On Sunday, April 12 we will be hosting two online gatherings to share in Easter celebration and worship together.
Gathering 1 — 4 a.m. (CDT) Time zone calculator
Gathering 2 — 2 p.m. (CDT) Time zone calculator
By having two gatherings we hope to increase participation around the world and allow people to join in at a reasonable time of their day. Pick the time that best fits your day and worship with us through music, prayers, reflections from members around the world, and a homily by President Steve Veazey.
To provide opportunities for interaction from home, we’ll be broadcasting the worship on the church’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds. Viewers will be invited to share in the comments on Facebook and Instagram or by using #CofChristEaster on Twitter at several points during the worship. The broadcast also will be available at www.CofChrist.org/live-webcast and the church’s YouTube channel.
From Denise Leichter – Pacific Southwest International Mission Center President
I thought as we continue to march through this pandemic as a human family; you might find space for our Santa Barbara Congregations neighbor, Rabbi Cohen, in the sharing of his sermon Friday night. The interfaith clergy association here is copying each other on prayers, sermons, the invitation to online worships, study groups, etc. We are taking care of each other, as we journey to take care of you, as a diverse and worthy human family.
Blessings for another week that has personal sunsets and new sunrises. Stay vigilant in social connections and physical distancing. The news and numbers will become staggering, but we must cling to HOPE, create moments of JOY, share LOVE, and participate in PEACE for all people that need each other.

https://zoom.us/j/8168338100, and let’s just visit. if you haven’t used Zoom before, this is the perfect way to give it a trial run. There is no agenda and ANYONE can join us. Spread the word and let’s just connect.
Starting April 23, on every other Thursday evening, 7:00 pm-8:00 pm, an additional Coffee Connect will startup. Help us get the word out to as many as possible that physical distancing does not mean we can’t engage in the community as we long to do.
Announcement: It is with sadness that we share with you that former Apostle Dale Luffman passed away on March 25th at his home from a battle with cancer. Dale lived in Oregon the last few years of his life, and services for Dale have not been announced yet. Please keep wife Judy and the rest of Dale’s family in your prayers.
Blanie Nelson requested to inform the Mission Center the following:
We have chosen to place Dave in palliative care under Hospice of the Valley at Brookdale North Mesa, an assisted living center.
He spent a week in the hospital early this month including a few days in ICU with sepsis (blood infection), followed by a couple weeks in rehab at a skilled nursing center.
Dad’s heart is sometimes not pacing properly, even though his pacemaker itself was checked out at the hospital and is performing well. We talked it over, and Dad does not want any more invasive treatment, so we called in Hospice of the Valley. He is now in their care and they are wonderful.
Dave is comfortable and at ease. We don’t have an expectation of imminent passing- he could be around for quite some time, or be gone tomorrow. Being mindful, we live in the moment and count each day as a blessing.
Communication is a challenge right now, with all visitors understandably banned, including close family.
We are having his home phone # transferred to Brookdale so it will be more convenient for friends to call, but we are told that won’t be effective until April 9. In the meantime close family is getting by with staff members sharing their devices for FaceTime or Skype.
His address is:
